Landscape World: compliant and cheap to run from day one.

The brief

A new warehouse and shop unit replacing an older building. Commercial energy bills are notoriously high, and new building regulations covering lighting control, heating zoning and energy use are close to impossible to meet without proper building controls. The yard also had a history of security issues.

What we did

• Project-managed the MEP for the new building and integrated every system with Loxone.
• Fire safety, security, access control, lighting, heating, air conditioning and solar on one system.
• Edge-based analytic cameras: detection events trigger lighting and send alerts out of hours.
• Extended and improved the existing yard security.

The outcome

Full regulatory compliance from day one. 18kW of rooftop solar paired with 30kW of battery storage, low-carbon heating from an air source heat pump, and mechanical ventilation recovering up to 90% of outgoing heat. Two acres of yard fully floodlit, and a 6m-high shop floor comfortably heated, cooled and lit by a track lighting system designed for the space. The energy bill for the same summer month: £290 in the old building, £29 in the new one.
